Brief History
Parama Poojya Swami Chinmayanandaji, a great visionary and a modern ascetic initiated manifestation of his noble dream to chisel a bright prospect for the future citizens of independent India by starting a chain of Chinmaya Vidyalayas across the country. Chinmaya Vidyalayas have constantly strived to impart quality education with an integrated approach that seamlessly blends rich Indian values and modern scientific thought. Over a decade ago, a team of inspired devotees of Chinmaya mission at Mandya was yearning to execute their long-nurtured idea of starting a Chinmaya Vidyalaya; a school with a difference, to groom the local children in the virtuous path laid down by the great master.
The Idea was eventually put forth to Pujya Swami Brahmanandaji, Head Chinmaya Mission Karnataka who carried forward the proposal to Swami Tejomayananda, the then Head Chinmaya mission worldwide. After obtaining the approval and blessings from the Poojya Guruji, the project was started under the aegis of KCST Bengaluru. The unequivocal support extended by Swami Brahmanandaji, quickly enabled the purchase of about 3 acres of land at the outskirts of Mandya, amidst lush green environment far away from the hustles and bustles of the city.
The Construction commenced with the Bhoomi Puja being performed by Swami Brahmanandaji on 02/10/2006. Funds for the work were provided by KCST Bengaluru and several devotees of the Chinmaya mission. The Swamiji of Chinmaya mission Mandya and many devotees of the mission worked tirelessly to mobilize funds for the noble cause. By virtue of concerted contributions from many generous devotees and philanthropists, the first phase of construction was completed in about 16 months which accommodated about 22 rooms.
The school was inaugurated by Swami Tejomayanandaji on 08/06/2008, The school began to function from the academic year 2008 with the 182 students from nursery to class V. The Vidyalaya acquired CBSE middle school affiliation on 05/03/2009 and secondary school affiliation on 21/03/2011.
At present, the school building is almost complete with three floors comprising of 43 spacious classrooms. The school now includes a well-stacked library, besides modern science laboratories including state of the art computer lab, Math lab as well as an exclusive English language lab.
As an institution that believes in placing equal emphasis on both curricular and co-curricular activities, the management has made it a point to provide a well laid structured playground in a vast piece of land. Further construction of another 8 rooms is under process currently. Chinmaya Vidyalaya enjoys the distinction of being the first CBSE affiliated private school in Mandya. Presently more than 1100 children are studying in the Vidyalaya. At this juncture of the glorious DASHAMANOTSAVA, the institution is well poised for further expansion with massive local support and popularity.
